A fire caused by failed wiring in a trailer located in the Lemon Creek area was extinguished within minutes by Capital City Fire\/Rescue Wednesday afternoon, according to CCFR Assistant Chief Ed Quinto.<\/p>\n
“We got it out, it’s under control,” he told the Empire. “It was small and they were able to put it out in a few minutes.”<\/p>\n
While at the scene Wednesday afternoon, Quinto said that around 12:15 p.m. CCFR received a report of an apparent trailer fire at Switzer Village Mobile Home Park.<\/p>\n
CCFR Chief Rich Etheridge said there was heavy smoke when CCFR arrived and firefighters arriving at the scene confirmed there was a fire in the attic of the trailer. No one was inside the trailer at the time of the fire and no injuries have been reported.<\/p>\n
Through investigation it was determined that the fire originated from a bedroom, and was confined to the small air space between the original roof and the rain cover, according to a news release. The fire was caused by wiring to the ceiling light that had failed and ignited the space above the ceiling.<\/p>\n
According to the news release, the damages are estimated to be around $10,000 and the owner did not have insurance.<\/p>\n
