Anan Creek, which draws the bears to the area, features huge runs of pink salmon each summer.<\/p>\n<p>To limit bear-human conflicts, the Forest Service issues 20 visitor permits per day between July 5 and Aug. 25. Outside that period, permits are not needed, but bear activity tends to be lower.<\/p>\n<p>To register for a permit, visit recreation.gov or call 1-877-444-6777.
