Holly Helena Huber named Miss Alaska Volunteer<\/strong><\/p>\n

Holly Helena Huber of Juneau was named Miss Alaska Volunteer at the Miss Alaska Volunteer Educational Scholarship Program pageant on Oct. 8. She will compete at the Miss Volunteer America Pageant in June. Two other awards were given to winners who will compete at their respective events nationally: Josephine Herbert as Miss Alaska Teen Volunteer and Dominique Henry as Miss Alaska Sweetheart.<\/p>\n

Southeast Conference raises more than $60K for UAS scholarships<\/strong><\/p>\n

Southeast Conference’s annual scholarship auction on Sept. 19 generated a record $60,200 for the scholarship endowment for the University of Alaska Foundation which supports University of Alaska Southeast students in the coming academic year. Since 2000, Southeast Conference has given nearly $470,000 to the fund.<\/p>\n

JPHC flu vaccine clinic Oct. 21<\/strong><\/p>\n

The Juneau Public Health Center will sponsor an influenza vaccine clinic from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Oct. 21 at the Juneau Public Health Center at 3412 Glacier Hwy.<\/p>\n

The public clinic will offer influenza vaccine for anyone age 9 years old and up, free of charge. No other vaccines will be available at this clinic.<\/p>\n

Register for a clinic appointment at myhealth.alaska.gov\/appointment\/en\/reg\/6151310942<\/a>. Those who need assistance registering can call the Juneau Public Health Center at (907) 465-3353.<\/p>\n

The recommended COVID-19 and RSV vaccines are or will be offered by local pharmacies and many local healthcare providers. To receive either of these vaccines, please reach out to the pharmacies or your provider for availability information.<\/p>\n

Lions Club seeks letters of interest for 75th Gold Medal Basketball Tournament<\/strong><\/p>\n

The Juneau Lions Club’s board of directors has approved the dates, location and divisions for the 75th Annual Invitational Gold Medal Basketball Tournament. The tournament is scheduled March 17-23, 2024, at the Juneau-Douglas High School: Yadaa.at Kalé gym.<\/p>\n

Player divisions for the 75th tournament will be eight “B” teams, six “C” teams, six “Masters” teams, and six “Women’s” teams. The Juneau Lions Club is seeking Letters of Interest from All B, C, Masters, and Women’s teams interested in participating in the 2024 tournament.<\/p>\n

Teams are asked to send an email that states the (1) community they represent, (2) division they desire to play, (3) name of team, and (4) the name of one individual who will be the team point of contact. The Juneau Lions Club is asking for separate Letters of Interest for each division team. All letters of interest must be received by Jan. 7, 2024. The Juneau Lions Club will make team invitation selections and send official invitations on Jan. 11.<\/p>\n
