Juneau brewers win 10 medals at 2023 AK Beer Awards<\/strong><\/p>\n

The Brewers Guild of Alaska (BGA) held the awards ceremony for the 2023 AK Beer Awards competition at Williwaw Social in Anchorage on Nov. 3. This competition included over 200 entries from 24 Alaskan small businesses across 18 different categories. All entries were judged double-blind by a group of nearly 30 expert judges, and categories spanned craft beer, cider, mead, hard seltzer and hard kombucha.<\/p>\n

Three Juneau breweries took home awards: Devil’s Club Brewing Company won six medals, Alaskan Brewing Company won three and Forbidden Peak Brewing Company won one. The categories featuring Juneau winners are:<\/p>\n

Golden, Blonde & Other Light Ales<\/em><\/p>\n

1st Place: Nanook 65 Golden Ale, Lat 65 Brewing Company<\/p>\n

2nd Place: Kolsch-Style Ale, Alaskan Brewing Company<\/p>\n

3rd Place: Ivar’s Ale, Big Delta Brewing Company<\/p>\n

Red, Amber & Brown Beer<\/em><\/p>\n

1st Place: Red Raven Red Ale, Lat 65 Brewing Company<\/p>\n

2nd Place: Red Spruce Red Ale, Forbidden Peak Brewing Company<\/p>\n

3rd Place: Skiff Life Amber Lager, Harbor Mountain Brewing Company<\/p>\n

Tlingit and Haida hosting Elders Congregate Meal<\/strong><\/p>\n

Tlingit and Haida’s Elderly Services program is hosting a social luncheon from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 16 at Elizabeth Peratrovich Hall at 320 W. Willoughby Ave.<\/p>\n

Elders 55 and older are invited to enjoy a meal and company. Staff from the tribes’ communications team will be available to take photos of Elders in their regalia. Two Goldbelt companies among five Alaska winners of 2023 HIRE Vets Medallion Awards<\/strong><\/p>\n

The U.S. Department of Labor announced the award of the HIRE Vets Medallion Award to five employers in Alaska for their support in recruiting, employing and retaining U.S. military veterans. The two Juneau companies were Goldbelt Inc. and Goldbelt Security LLC.<\/p>\n

Acting Secretary of Labor Julie Su announced award recipients during a ceremony at the department’s Washington headquarters where awardees were recognized for supporting veterans and their families.<\/p>\n

“Recipients of the 2023 HIRE Vets Medallion Award demonstrate a commitment to recruiting, hiring and retaining veterans as they help them develop meaningful, long-term careers,” she said. “From small-town businesses to Fortune 500 companies, these employers understand that veterans are uniquely qualified and dedicated employees who make significant contributions in the workplace.”<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
