Jam below Crooked Creek.<\/p>\n<p>Sliver quarter moon above the only gift darkness offers.<\/p>\n<p>Sleep fits hardly into short nights.<\/p>\n<p>A child dreams of a white whiskered uncle<\/p>\n<p>wallowing in bone-chilling black ice slush.<\/p>\n<p>The moving frozen garden has no alarm bell,<\/p>\n<p>only rhapsodic music needle ice makes falling into itself,<\/p>\n<p>or moans of earth banks being gashed forever away<\/p>\n<p>by tumbling ice boulders the size of clouds.<\/p>\n<p>Our high watermark willow sticks submerge<\/p>\n<p>while we await the inevitable surge.<\/p>\n<p><em>\u2022 Jack Campbell lives in Excursion Inlet.
