{"id":11402,"date":"2015-12-01T09:01:39","date_gmt":"2015-12-01T17:01:39","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/spijue.wpengine.com\/news\/cbj-seeks-head-tax-proposals\/"},"modified":"2015-12-01T09:01:39","modified_gmt":"2015-12-01T17:01:39","slug":"cbj-seeks-head-tax-proposals","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.juneauempire.com\/news\/cbj-seeks-head-tax-proposals\/","title":{"rendered":"CBJ seeks head tax proposals"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The City and Borough of Juneau is accepting proposals for head-tax funded projects in 2016.<\/p>\n<p>In 1999, CBJ voters approved a tax of $5 per cruise ship passenger to compensate for the extra costs \u2014 including policing, ambulance service and water \u2014 inflicted by the cruise industry on the CBJ. <\/p>\n<p>Each year, the CBJ solicits proposals for projects that use this revenue.<\/p>\n<p>In fiscal year 2016, which ends June 30, 2016, the city expected the tax to raise $4.8 million. A similar amount is expected in fiscal year 2017.<\/p>\n<p>Proposals are accepted at the city manager\u2019s office from Dec. 1 through Dec. 31.
