“I’m impressed by Deanna’s deep rooted belief in healthy relationships,” Wells said. “She and her peers organized the carnival designed to connect teens with local resources. She is compassionate and a strong leader in our community!”

“Deanna is amazing and I am so honored to have her in my U.S. government class this semester,” Sheakley-Early said. “Deanna is a part of Teen Council and has spent much of her past time in the last couple of years collaborating with teens in Juneau and across the state to organize opportunities for youth in our communities. As a student in my government class, Deanna has gone above and beyond in getting to know candidates, helping them with their campaigns, asking and following up with youth related questions, and getting involved in our community. I am sure there is a ton more that Deanna is doing, including being a great role model for her peers. Deanna is a shining example of the energy, intelligence and motivation that teenagers possess and can give back to their community.”

“In cuisine his work ethic is outstanding and he has accepted challenges that have resolved issues in the classroom,” Tingley said.

Junior Mandee Smith was nominated by Janna Lelchuk.

“Mandee is in the third year of Russian,” Lelchuk said. “Last year she was my TA in addition to a regular classroom load. Mandee’s dedication to the Russian program is amazing! She loves the class and the language and is doing great work. She is a good example for other kids in class. She is doing good work and I hope she will continue.”

Freshman Thomas Willhoite was nominated by Holly Ireno.

“Thomas kindly helped a TMHS staff member with a fellow student in a wheel chair navigate through the building, even though he would arrive to his own class late,” Ireno said. “Thomas returned to class, without explaining his tardy, continuing on through his day. It is these random acts of kindness that should be recognized and encouraged.”
