Police received a call Wednesday night from a Mendenhall Valley business employee that led to the arrest of a man police believe to be tied to a theft at Best Western Country Lane Inn.

Juneau Police Department spokesman Lt. David Campbell told the Empire on Thursday morning in an email that Keith Joseph Nelson Jr., 20, was arrested on an outstanding $20,000 Alaska State Trooper warrant for a probations violation on an original charge of two counts of burglary in the second degree. Police had asked the community Tuesday to keep an eye out for Nelson after a Best Western employee provided a description earlier that day of an alleged thief who matched Nelson’s description, according to JPD.

Police arrested Nelson at 10:41 p.m. in the 2800 block of Riverside Drive.

According to online court records, charges have not been filed against Nelson for the Tuesday morning hotel theft.
