{"id":12548,"date":"2016-01-20T09:01:51","date_gmt":"2016-01-20T17:01:51","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/spijue.wpengine.com\/news\/capital-steps-to-perform-sunday\/"},"modified":"2016-01-20T09:01:51","modified_gmt":"2016-01-20T17:01:51","slug":"capital-steps-to-perform-sunday","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.juneauempire.com\/life\/capital-steps-to-perform-sunday\/","title":{"rendered":"Capital Steps to perform Sunday"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"font-size: 16px\">The Juneau Arts &amp; Humanities Council will present a performance by Capitol Steps, a Washington, DC-based comedy troupe, on Sunday Jan. 24, at 7 pm at Centennial Hall.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>Now in their 17th season, the troupe will present a show based on songs from their current album \u201cMock the Vote.\u201d &nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Art Passports and JAHC Packs are still available for the final three performances of The Juneau Arts &amp; Humanities Season 42. The Art Passport offers the opportunity to be entered into a raffle at the first Food Truck Friday and the JAHC Pack offers a 20 percent discount on the purchase of four or more tickets.<\/p>\n<p>The Capitol Steps have been a Washington, DC, institution for more than 30 years, providing a blend of musical and political comedy. The troupe started in 1981 &#8212; when John McCain was only 63 years old &#8212;&nbsp;since then, they have appeared on \u201cThe Today Show,\u201d \u201cNightline,\u201d \u201cCBS Evening News\u201d and for many years in specials for National Public Radio.<\/p>\n<p>Their bi-partisan show includes songs about everything in the news, such as \u201cHow Do You Solve a Problem Like Crimea,\u201d \u201cAin\u2019t No Pipeline, Now It\u2019s Gone,\u201d and \u201cThe iMpossible iWatch.\u201d&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Tickets are on sale now at The Juneau Arts &amp; Culture Center, Hearthside Books, and at www.jahc.org.&nbsp; Tickets range from $5 for UAS students and children, to $30 for adults.
