Thunder Mountain High School hosts the Southeast Regional track meet this weekend which will decide which of Southeast\u2019s athletes will go to the state meet in Anchorage May 27-28. <\/p>\n
TMHS has had a great year in short, middle and long distance events as well as field events, and looks to lead qualification numbers with a nine-time state title winner, senior Naomi Welling, leading the way.<\/p>\n
JDHS, with a group half the size of TMHS\u2019 team, has some great middle and distance running relay teams which they hope to qualify.<\/p>\n
Friday starts with field events including preliminaries and finals at 11 a.m., while running prelims will take place at 3 p.m. Saturday will start with field preliminary and final events at 9:30 a.m., with running finals will take place at 11 a.m.<\/p>\n
In addition to the girls soccer senior nights, the track regionals are this weekend\u2019s only home prep sporting events.<\/p>\n
\nAway games<\/strong><\/p>\n TMHS softball plays at Sitka for two games Friday and Saturday. If the Falcons girls win both they can catch JDHS, which leads the Region V conference standings by two games. The JDHS girls are idle this weekend with a record of 7-3, and the TMHS girls have the two Sitka games in hand at 5-3.<\/p>\n JDHS baseball travels to Ketchikan for three games.
