Juneau’s election results are official and certified.<\/p>\n

A week after the Oct. 3 election, Municipal Clerk and Election Official Laurie Sica signed and verified the final voter count and results. With all ballots in, voter turnout was 28.2 percent<\/a>, a slip from the 33.5 percent<\/a> turnout in 2016.<\/p>\n

None of the results changed with the 1,711 absentee and questioned ballots that were counted after the election. Maria Gladziszewski and Jesse Kiehl were re-elected to the City and Borough of Juneau Assembly in their Areawide and District 1 seats, respectively. Rob Edwardson unseated District 2 Assembly incumbent Debbie White<\/a>, earning 59.9 percent of the vote.<\/p>\n

Incumbent Brian Holst and newcomer Jeff Short were elected to the Board of Education<\/a>, with Holst receiving the most votes. Voters approved Proposition 1, which extends the 1 percent sales tax increase for another five years, with 77.6 percent of votes in favor. Proposition 2, which amends the city charter to allow the city to award bids based on factors other than the lowest bid, passed with 71.7 percent of votes in favor.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
