Thunder Mountain High School recognized six students during the month of February.<\/p>\n

Science teacher Kristen Wells nominated senior Makayla Harp.<\/p>\n

\u201cMakayla has stepped up this year, and is finding success for her efforts,\u201d Wells said. \u201cShe is on top of her class-work and challenging herself outside of school as well! Way to go!\u201d<\/p>\n

Math teacher Carol May nominated senior Jordan Cooper.<\/p>\n

\u201cJordan has shown outstanding leadership in robotics for four years,\u201d May said. \u201cShe manages a large team, and can cheerfully delegate according to team members\u2019 strengths. She sees the big picture, and plans out the steps to get there. At the Southeast regional tournament, many coaches and judges noticed her outstanding leadership abilities. One community professional commented that she is the exact type of person he would hire as a project leader.\u201d<\/p>\n

English teacher Chris Knight nominated sophomore Ivan Williams.<\/p>\n

\u201cGreat student, great participant and offers a positive and humorous intelligence to school,\u201d Knight said.<\/p>\n

Yearbook teacher Janna Lelchuk nominated sophomore Hannah Elizarde.<\/p>\n

\u201cHannah is one awesome yearbook creator,\u201d Lelchuk said. \u201cNobody can work as fast as she does. Her pages are bright, bold, professionally looking. She is a great designer. This yearbook will be a success because of students like Hannah!\u201d<\/p>\n

Teacher Adriana Northcutt added, \u201cI have been greatly impressed by Hannah\u2019s commitment and hard work. Although she a very quiet student, she always goes above and beyond the general expectations and shows a deep understanding of the content. She is a very sweet and kind person and I have greatly enjoyed having her in my class this year!\u201d<\/p>\n

Principal Dan Larson nominated senior Kevin Allen.<\/p>\n

\u201cKevin Allen has been present at community meetings as a TMHS Student Council representative,\u201d Larson said. \u201cRecently there was a JSD budget meeting held at JDHS in which all Juneau stakeholders were invited; school board members, cabinet members, teachers, administrators, parents, site council members, students, etc… I am proud to say that Kevin is the only high school student who felt it was important enough to attend. I am proud of what Kevin had to offer the group.\u201d<\/p>\n

English teacher Patrick Roach nominated freshman Simon Smith.<\/p>\n

\u201cSimon is a very hard worker and a great student,\u201d Roach said. \u201cHe always contributes in class, and whenever he finishes his work early, he helps his peers with theirs. He also comes to class with a smile and a great attitude.\u201d<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
