Today is Elizabeth Peratrovich Day, a day dedicated to the civil rights leader who advocated for Alaska Native Rights and was instrumental in the passing of the Anti-Discrimination Act.<\/p>\n
To honor her, an annual event will be held at Thunder Mountain High School this Thursday, Feb. 18, from 10:30 a.m.\u20131:50 p.m.<\/p>\n
Inside the gymnasium, the event will be broken down to two different sessions, both featuring guest speakers. The first session will discuss the political and legal implications of the Anti-Discrimination Act, and the second will focus on the importance of Elizabeth Peratrovich and grassroots and community organizing.<\/p>\n
