Lisa Murkowski says she\u2019s \u201clivid\u201d at the federal Food and Drug Administration\u2019s approval of genetically modified salmon for human consumption.<\/p>\n<p>Murkowski and the other members of Alaska\u2019s congressional delegation criticized the decision in a joint news release Thursday.<\/p>\n<p>Murkowski said it\u2019s imperative that proposals she\u2019s offered to mandate the labeling of so-called \u201cFrankenfish\u201d become law.<\/p>\n<p>U.S. Rep. Don Young said the FDA was embarking on a science experiment with what he calls its \u201charebrained\u201d decision. Both he and U.S. Sen Dan Sullivan said at a minimum, the fish should be labeled.<\/p>\n<p>The FDA decision came in an agency review of AquAdvantage Salmon, engineered by the Massachusetts-based company AquaBounty.<\/p>\n<p>FDA said the fish are safe to eat and would not have a significant environmental impact.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>JUNEAU \u2014 U.S. Sen.
