{"id":13869,"date":"2016-07-10T08:01:02","date_gmt":"2016-07-10T15:01:02","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/spijue.wpengine.com\/news\/kotzebue-fire-chief-on-leave-after-dui-charge\/"},"modified":"2016-07-10T08:01:02","modified_gmt":"2016-07-10T15:01:02","slug":"kotzebue-fire-chief-on-leave-after-dui-charge","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.juneauempire.com\/news\/kotzebue-fire-chief-on-leave-after-dui-charge\/","title":{"rendered":"Kotzebue fire chief on leave after DUI charge"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>ANCHORAGE \u2014 The Kotzebue fire chief is on paid administrative leave after being charged with driving under the influence.<\/p>\n<p>KTVA reported Sean Ralston was accused of driving a city vehicle while intoxicated on July 2.<\/p>\n<p>Kotzebue police say in a statement that an officer smelled alcohol on Ralston\u2019s breath and saw one empty beer can and a half full can in Ralston\u2019s marked city vehicle.<\/p>\n<p>Tests indicated Ralston had a blood-alcohol content level of .167, more than twice the legal limit of .08.<\/p>\n<p>City attorney Joe Evans says Ralston is on paid leave. Fire department Capt. Kelly Marcus is the acting chief.<\/p>\n<p>A message left with Ralston\u2019s Anchorage attorney on Friday morning wasn\u2019t immediately returned to The Associated Press.
