The university says visiting scholars and researchers for years stayed at the property along the Mendenhall River.<\/p>\n<p>The university says one of the stipulations tied to the donation of the house was that the proceeds from any sale of the property would be put into an endowed fund, with its earnings used in support of the university.<\/p>\n<p>University Chancellor Rick Caulfield said Schaible\u2019s generosity and legacy won\u2019t be forgotten.<\/p>\n<p>Schaible, who lives in Fairbanks, was attorney general from 1987 to 1989.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>JUNEAU \u2014 The University of Alaska Southeast has created an endowment in the name of former Alaska Attorney General Grace Schaible to support visiting faculty, researchers, artists and Native elders.
