Swanson covered the course in 16 minutes, 54 seconds, slightly faster than high school standout Arne Ellefson-Carnes, who eked out a 17:05 finish.<\/p>\n<p>Tuckwood cruised to a first-place finish in the women&rsquo;s division in 18:49.<\/p>\n<p>The event was co-sponsored by Healing Hand Foundation and SEARHC Health Promotions. The out-and-back race course started at the Twin Lakes shelter and progressed along the sidewalk. Runners turned back toward the shelter slightly past the Juneau Pioneer Home.<\/p>\n<p>Healing Hand Foundation provides assistance to Alaska Natives and veterans with unfunded medical and health care needs.<\/p>\n<p>Healing Hand Foundation raised $760 in donations and race fees, which will be matched by Sealaska Legacy grant and go toward durable medical items in Southeast Alaska.<\/p>\n<p>Door prizes were provided by Elgee, Rehfeld &#038; Mertz, LLC, Foggy Mountain Shop and Trickster Company.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>As the fog rose above Twin Lakes last Saturday morning, 66 participants ran in the first annual Healing Hand Foundation 5K and 1 mile run.
