On behalf of the entire Juneau Alaska Music Matters community, thank you Annie Kaill’s and Shoefly for your donation to JAMM through your new local giving program for Small Business Saturday called “Small Shops Give!” Your support helps over 530 students, kindergarten–fifth grade develop habits for success in school and life through instrumental music training.

Sydney Mitchell, owner of Shoefly, and Colleen Goldrich, owner of Annie Kaill’s, piloted this new initiative in 2015. They asked their customers to submit names of local charities, causes and people for a donation of 10 percent of sales on Small Business Saturday. Several worthy causes were submitted and then voted on. JAMM received the most votes and received a total of $460 from Shoefly and Annie Kaills. “Small Shops Give” was a success, and Sydney and Colleen hope to collaborate with even more Juneau businesses for the 2016 Small Business Saturday.

“Shoefly is receiving so many requests for help from local organizations, I thought trying to raise some extra awareness and funding for these needs was critical,” Mitchell said.

JAMM thanks Annie Kaill’s, Shoefly and their customers for their generous support and investment in Juneau’s children.
