The estimated $1,000 worth of food was reported stolen in late June, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.ktuu.com\/content\/news\/Half-a-ton-of-food-donated-to-homeless-Anchorage-youth-stolen-387536512.html\" target=\"_blank\">according to KTUU-TV<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The food went missing from a shed at Anchorage Community Mental Health Services, where it was being stored until it could make its way to Alaska Youth Advocates, an organization that serves homeless and at-risk youth.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe\u2019ve had theft from our properties before, but we\u2019ve never had food stolen,\u201d said Jennifer Smerud, ACHMS community relations director.<\/p>\n<p>The stolen items include Ramen noodles, canned vegetables and other items easy for children to carry and prepare, Smerud said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s just devastating to think that these donations have been taken,\u201d the agency\u2019s chief operating officer, Mike Sobocinski, said in a Tuesday news release. \u201cPeople gave so generously to homeless youth, and now it is gone.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>A suspect has not been located, but an investigation is ongoing Anchorage police spokeswoman Renee Oistad said.<\/p>\n<p>&#8212;<\/p>\n<p>Related stories:<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/juneauempire.com\/local\/2016-07-20\/juneau-police-seek-strengthen-community-relations\" target=\"_blank\">Juneau police seek to strengthen community relations<\/a><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/juneauempire.com\/local\/2016-07-20\/hatching-pok%C3%A9-egg-why-not-also-walk-shelter-dog\" target=\"_blank\">Hatching a Pok<span>\u00e9<\/span> Egg?
