Senator Dan Sullivan, R-Alaska, nominated 33 Alaskans on Jan. 27. Of both senator\u2019s nominees, Maxwell Suzuki of Juneau was named. He is at the U.S. Military Academy in West Point, New York.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis year\u2019s selection of candidates embody the traits and characteristics we see in our men and women in uniform. They have demonstrated leadership and a willingness to protect our freedoms,\u201d Murkowski said. \u201cIt is always an honor for me to nominate such talented Alaskans to serve our country. Young men and women such as these truly make Alaska proud.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>U.S. Military Service Academy nominees are selected based on their academic record, extracurricular activities and leadership capacity. Nominees will compete against other candidates nationwide for a spot in the entering class.
