{"id":15655,"date":"2016-05-27T00:22:59","date_gmt":"2016-05-27T07:22:59","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/spijue.wpengine.com\/news\/hydaburg-man-charged-with-assault-with-splitting-maul\/"},"modified":"2016-05-27T00:22:59","modified_gmt":"2016-05-27T07:22:59","slug":"hydaburg-man-charged-with-assault-with-splitting-maul","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.juneauempire.com\/news\/hydaburg-man-charged-with-assault-with-splitting-maul\/","title":{"rendered":"Hydaburg man charged with assault with splitting maul"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>HYDABURG<\/strong> \u2014 A southeast Alaska man has been charged with felony assault after a dispute at a home in the village of Hydaburg.<\/p>\n<p>Alaska State Troopers said 51-year-old Richard Carle was highly intoxicated when he got into an argument with family members, who pushed him out of the house.<\/p>\n<p>Troopers said Carle used a splitting maul to smash the door and threatened to kill the people inside.<\/p>\n<p>A village public safety officer used pepper spray to arrest Carle.<\/p>\n<p>Troopers said Carle spit on the officer and broke out a partition in his patrol car.<\/p>\n<p>Carle also is charged with counts of criminal mischief and harassment.<\/p>\n<p>Carle remains jailed at Lemon Creek Correctional Center in Juneau.<\/p>\n<p>He is represented by the Alaska Public Defender Agency, which does not comment on pending cases.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>HYDABURG \u2014 A southeast Alaska man has been charged with felony assault after a dispute at a home in the village of Hydaburg.
