Juneau police on Thursday arrested a man on suspicion of burglarizing several businesses in the Mendenhall Valley earlier this month.<\/p>\n
Police contacted Dakota Gallant, 27, at about 3:50 p.m. Thursday at a residence in the 1900 block of Lemon Creek Road and arrested him on three outstanding warrants, according to Juneau Police Department release.<\/p>\n
Gallant was indicted Wednesday by a Juneau grand jury on two counts of second-degree burglary and one count of second-degree theft.<\/p>\n
District Attorney Angie Kemp noted that Gallant had been out on bond with conditions of release for earlier criminal cases that included vehicle theft and had multiple priors with two felonies.<\/p>\n
Gallant reportedly fled from police on Aug. 12, which resulted in a $10,000 bench warrant issued for his arrest. He\u2019s accused of breaking through the drive-thru window of the Mendenhall Valley Subway some time the night of Aug. 10, taking a 250-pound safe that was valued at $1,500 and contained about $1,000 in cash.<\/p>\n
Gallant was quickly identified by police as the suspect on surveillance video and was located in an abandoned van at the Dragon Inn on Glacier Highway. Gallant took off running into the woods, leaving behind the safe.<\/p>\n
