{"id":15862,"date":"2015-09-18T08:07:00","date_gmt":"2015-09-18T15:07:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/spijue.wpengine.com\/news\/galena-man-shot-by-fairbanks-state-troopers-dies-of-injuries\/"},"modified":"2015-09-18T08:07:00","modified_gmt":"2015-09-18T15:07:00","slug":"galena-man-shot-by-fairbanks-state-troopers-dies-of-injuries","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.juneauempire.com\/news\/galena-man-shot-by-fairbanks-state-troopers-dies-of-injuries\/","title":{"rendered":"Galena man shot by Fairbanks state troopers dies of injuries"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>FAIRBANKS \u2014 A Galena man shot by Alaska State Troopers in Fairbanks has died of his injuries.<\/p>\n<p>Troopers say 19-year-old Tristan Vent died at about 6:30 a.m. Wednesday.<\/p>\n<p>Troopers say Vent just after 10 a.m. Sept. 8 was stopped near the Davis Road ball fields in south Fairbanks because an officer noticed he was driving a vehicle reported stolen that morning.<\/p>\n<p>Troopers say Vent had a gun.<\/p>\n<p>Troopers say they tried to negotiate a surrender before using \u201cless-lethal\u201d force to attempt to arrest Vent.<\/p>\n<p>Five troopers eventually fired guns at Vent, including Capt. Ronald Wall, commander of the Fairbanks trooper detachment.<\/p>\n<p>Vent was seriously wounded. He was transported to Fairbanks Memorial Hospital and eventually Alaska Native Medical Center in Anchorage.<\/p>\n<p>An investigation into the shooting continues.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>FAIRBANKS \u2014 A Galena man shot by Alaska State Troopers in Fairbanks has died of his injuries.
