{"id":15880,"date":"2015-12-04T22:16:51","date_gmt":"2015-12-05T06:16:51","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/spijue.wpengine.com\/news\/jury-convicts-man-of-stabbing-uncle-to-death-in-anchorage\/"},"modified":"2015-12-04T22:16:51","modified_gmt":"2015-12-05T06:16:51","slug":"jury-convicts-man-of-stabbing-uncle-to-death-in-anchorage","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.juneauempire.com\/news\/jury-convicts-man-of-stabbing-uncle-to-death-in-anchorage\/","title":{"rendered":"Jury convicts man of stabbing uncle to death in Anchorage"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>ANCHORAGE \u2014<\/strong> An Anchorage jury Thursday convicted a 39-year-old man of murder in the death of his uncle.<\/p>\n<p>Prosecutors say Ralph Nayokpuk (neye-AHK\u2019-puhk) was convicted of second-degree murder in the Aug. 6, 2014 death of 51-year-old Ronald Mullins.<\/p>\n<p>Mullins was living at a home in northeast Anchorage and taking care of his 79-year-old mother when he got into a dispute with his nephew.<\/p>\n<p>Investigators said the men argued as Nayokpuk cut garlic and onions with a butcher knife. When Mullins threatened to call police, Nayokpuk stabbed him.<\/p>\n<p>Mullins suffered 11 stab wounds in his torso and back and two other knife injuries.<\/p>\n<p>He fled and collapsed on his front lawn, where neighbors attempted CPR.<\/p>\n<p>Nayokpuk is scheduled for sentencing April 15 and faces a prison sentence of 0 to 99 years.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>ANCHORAGE \u2014 An Anchorage jury Thursday convicted a 39-year-old man of murder in the death of his uncle.
