With trappers still active in the area and able to report harvest up to two weeks after the fact, the closure was needed to ensure the hunt stayed below the quota of nine wolves.<\/p>\n<p>Wolf hunting has been controversial on Prince of Wales Island, where conservationists say the population has plunged to unsustainable levels.
