The state faced gaining another $500 million to $1 billion in debt, prompting state government to consider a special session so that the Legislature could work on the deficit\u2019s newest leak.<\/p>\n<p>The rise of the League of Women Voters took root, with its leader, Karen Rasmussen, and many other members seen sporting tagline buttons at every City and Borough of Juneau meeting.
