A Juneau teen was arrested for drunken driving Saturday morning after he crashed and totaled his car near 19-mile Glacier Highway.<\/p>\n
Daniel Justin Stevens, 18, was speeding inbound on the highway around 6:30 a.m. when he said he swerved to avoid another vehicle, according to a Juneau Police Department press release. Stevens overcorrected, lost control and struck a rock embankment.<\/p>\n
He was driving a 2007 Ford Focus, which was totaled at an estimated damage of $4,500, said the release. It was impounded and towed.<\/p>\n
JPD received multiple calls from people about the crash. A woman reported Stevens stayed with the car while a passenger, an approximately 18-year-old male, had left the area with another motorist. The passenger had a minor facial cut, said the press release.<\/p>\n
Stevens had no injuries and was arrested for driving while intoxicated. A breath sample showed a blood alcohol level of .146 percent. He was taken to Lemon Creek Correctional Center and later released on his own recognizance.<\/p>\n
