{"id":16851,"date":"2016-11-28T23:59:43","date_gmt":"2016-11-29T07:59:43","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/spijue.wpengine.com\/news\/election-turnout-highest-since-2008\/"},"modified":"2016-11-28T23:59:43","modified_gmt":"2016-11-29T07:59:43","slug":"election-turnout-highest-since-2008","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.juneauempire.com\/news\/election-turnout-highest-since-2008\/","title":{"rendered":"Election turnout highest since 2008"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>According to the final uncertified results from the Alaska Division of Elections, almost 61 percent of Alaska\u2019s registered voters participated in this year\u2019s presidential election.<\/p>\n<p>The final unofficial figures, posted on the 15th day after the election, indicate a turnout of 60.71 percent.<\/p>\n<p>Division officials will audit and analyze the election this week and are expected certify the results as official early this week.<\/p>\n<p>This year\u2019s turnout is No. 8 in the 11 presidential elections held since 1976, when the state\u2019s modern recordkeeping system began.<\/p>\n<p>It\u2019s also about 5 percentage points below normal for a presidential election year in Alaska.
