{"id":17282,"date":"2016-12-09T09:02:24","date_gmt":"2016-12-09T17:02:24","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/spijue.wpengine.com\/news\/body-found-in-truck-burning-in-steese-highway-ditch\/"},"modified":"2016-12-09T09:02:24","modified_gmt":"2016-12-09T17:02:24","slug":"body-found-in-truck-burning-in-steese-highway-ditch","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.juneauempire.com\/news\/body-found-in-truck-burning-in-steese-highway-ditch\/","title":{"rendered":"Body found in truck burning in Steese Highway ditch"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>ANCHORAGE \u2014<\/strong>Alaska State Troopers are trying to identify a person found dead in a truck that burned in a ditch along the Steese Highway.<\/p>\n<p>Troopers shortly after 5 p.m. Wednesday took a report of a truck burning at Mile 155 about seven miles from the village of Circle.<\/p>\n<p>Investigators said the driver may have lost control and driven into the ditch.<\/p>\n<p>The accident caused minimal damage but troopers say at some point the truck caught fire, destroying the truck and apparently causing the driver\u2019s death.<\/p>\n<p>Troopers have been unable to find the truck registration or the vehicle identification number.<\/p>\n<p>An autopsy on the body has been planned.<\/p>\n<p>Troopers are asking witnesses to come forward if they have information on the crash and fire.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>ANCHORAGE \u2014Alaska State Troopers are trying to identify a person found dead in a truck that burned in a ditch along the Steese Highway.
