Alexander (Zan) Oliphant IV, 50, born in Lawton, Oklahoma, Feb. 12, 1967, to Alexander Oliphant III (Sandy) and Sue Ann Botkin Oliphant, passed away Jan. 15, 2018.<\/p>\n
He graduated from Juneau-Douglas High School in 1985, and later attended University of Alaska Fairbanks, University of Alaska Southeast and Florida Atlantic University.<\/p>\n
An entrepreneur, he formed several successful ventures, including a software company in Boca Raton, Florida. Zan returned to Juneau, reconnecting with high school classmate Shirley Hubbard, later moving to Kirkland, Washington, and becoming a mentor\/father figure to her son, Mitch. Later in life Zan began to write and had many short stories published on Amazon Kindle.<\/p>\n
He worked for Microsoft, Google, Apple and a firm in New Zealand as a developer. He wrote a book on Netscape Plugins and for PC Magazine.<\/p>\n
Zan is survived by his parents, Sandy and Sue Oliphant; brother Andrew; sister and brother-in-law Alexa and Chris Gifford, and his nephews, Elliot, Lars, Wade and Ole; brother and sister-in-law Brant and Jamie Oliphant. He is loved and remembered by many family and friends.<\/p>\n
A memorial celebration will be held at the Shrine of St. Therese at 3:30 p.m. in the Jubilee Cabin, Feb. 12.<\/p>\n
