The Juneau-Douglas and Thunder Mountain High School swim teams will compete at the 2015 Southeast Region V Swim & Dive Championships in Sitka beginning Friday.<\/p>\n
The JDHS girls have the fastest 200-yard medley relay time in Southeast this season with a 1 minute 56.09 seconds time, second fastest in the state to Chugiak\u2019s 1:54.88. Sitka is 3rd in the state with 1:56.17 and TMHS 8th at 2:00.63.<\/p>\n
\u201cEveryone is excited,\u201d JDHS coach Seth Cayce said. \u201cI can see it during practice. They have got that extra pep in their step. This weekend and next weekend are what we have been training all season long for.\u201d<\/p>\n
The JDHS girls also have the fastest Southeast 400 free relay time with 3:49.58 (2nd in state to Dimond\u2019s 3:48.53), Sitka 3:51.01 (3 rd), Ketchikan 4:08.18 (13th) and TMHS 4:08.36 (14th).<\/p>\n
JDHS\u2019 Mia Ruffin leads SE with a 200-yard individual medley time of 2:14.70, second in state to Chugiak\u2019s Emmie Jennings\u2019 2:13.13. Sitka\u2019s Skylar Moore is at 2:17.74 (8th in state), Sitka\u2019s Jessica Davis 2:18.47 (10th) and Ketchikan\u2019s Kiera O\u2019Brien 2:21.11 (11th). <\/p>\n
TMHS\u2019 Bergen Davis has the top SE boy\u2019s 200 IM time with 2:01.50 (5th state). Dimond\u2019s Jarod O\u2019Brien is 1st with 1:59.63. JDHS\u2019 Aidan Seid has a 2:09.86 (14th).<\/p>\n
\u201cThis group has worked so hard from day one,\u201d TMHS coach Jason Wilson said. \u201cAssistant coaches Josiah Loseby and Roby Jarvill have done a great job of getting these swimmers ready for these next two weekends.\u201d<\/p>\n
Sitka\u2019s Moore and Davis are one and two in SE (7th, 8th) in the girl\u2019s 200 freestyle with 2:02.12 and 2:02.77, respectively (1st Dimond\u2019s Erin Moody 1:58.84). JDHS\u2019 Gabi Kito has a 2:03.43 (10th) and Cameron Howard 2:06.81 (16th).<\/p>\n
Sitka\u2019s Will Pate leads SE boy\u2019s in the 200 free with 1:48.05 (4th state, 1st Kodiak\u2019s Talon Lindquist 1:45.12) and TMHS\u2019 Davis 1:53.13 (12th).<\/p>\n
In the girl\u2019s 50 free, Sitka\u2019s Whitney McArthur has a 25.70 (6th state. 1st Jennings 25.01), Ketchikan\u2019s O\u2019Brien 25.71 (7th), Sitka\u2019s Moore 26.05 (12th) and Sitka\u2019s Davis 26.21 (16th).<\/p>\n
Sitka\u2019s James Morland has a boy\u2019s 50 free time of 23.09 (11th state. 1st Service\u2019s Nathaniel Adams 21.81).<\/p>\n
Sitka\u2019s Davis has a girl\u2019s 100 free time of 55.39 (5th state, 1st Eagle River\u2019s Jordyn Bruce), JDHS\u2019 Ruffin 55.79 (8th), Sitka\u2019s Moore 56.01 (11th), Ketchikan\u2019s O\u2019Brien 56.36 (12th), JDHS\u2019 Kito 56.42 (13th) and Sitka\u2019s McArthur 57.43 (16th).<\/p>\n
Sitka\u2019s Pate has a boy\u2019s 100 free time of 50.23 (8th state, 1st Service\u2019s Adams 47.64).<\/p>\n
JDHS\u2019 Ruffin has a girl\u2019s 100 fly time of 1:00.81 (4th state, 1st Eagle River\u2019s Esther Min), JDHS\u2019 Kito a 1:01.51 (6th), Sitka\u2019s Davis 1:01.79 (7th) and Ketchikan\u2019s O\u2019Brien 1:02.67 (11th).<\/p>\n
TMHS\u2019 Spencer Holt has a SE top time of 55.33 for the boy\u2019s 100 fly (5th state, 1st Kodiak\u2019s Lindquist 51.93) and TMHS\u2019 Davis 57.12 (9th).<\/p>\n
Ketchikan\u2019s O\u2019Brien leads SE in the girl\u2019s 500 free with 5:29.76 (5th state, 1st Dimond\u2019s Erin Moody 5:21.06), Sitka\u2019s Moore 5:33.05 (9th), JDHS\u2019 Kito 5:34.18 (12th) and JDHS\u2019 Sophia Kaelke 5:42.32 (15th).<\/p>\n
Sitka\u2019s Pate has a boy\u2019s 500 free time of 4:51.73 (2nd state, 1st Kodiak\u2019s Lindquist 4:50.87) and TMHS\u2019 Davis 5:01.66 (6th).<\/p>\n
Sitka\u2019s Moore leads SE girl\u2019s in the 100 breast with 1:10.18 (2nd state, 1st Dimond\u2019s Madeleine Oakley), JDHS\u2019 Ruffin has a 1:10.86 (5th), Sitka\u2019s McArthur 1:12.61 (7th) and TMHS\u2019 Annie Hagen 1:15.74 (15th).<\/p>\n
TMHS\u2019 Davis leads SE boy\u2019s in the 100 breast with 1:00.84 (2nd state, 1st Colony\u2019s Joseph Anderson 1:00.57) and Ketchikan\u2019s Chance Rhein 1:05.65 (13th).<\/p>\n
Sitka\u2019s Davis leads SE girls in the 100 back with 1:02.16 (4th state, 1st Chugiak\u2019s Cheyenne Burke) and JDHS\u2019 Eliza Chappell has 1:04.18 (9th).<\/p>\n
TMHS\u2019 Davis has a 56.72 in the boy\u2019s 100 back (6th state, 1st West Valley\u2019s Tristan O\u2019Donoghue) and JDHS\u2019 Seid is at 58.71 (12th).<\/p>\n
The Sitka girls have SE\u2019s fastest 200 free relay time with 1:44.38 (2nd state, 1st Chugiak 1:42.47), JDHS 1:45.87 (5th), TMHS 1:50.26 (12th) and Ketchikan 1:53.51 (14th).<\/p>\n
The Sitka boys have the fastest 200-medley time in SE with 1:46.41 (7th in the state, Dimond 1st with 1:41.36). TMHS has a 1:47.12 (9th), JDHS 1:49.69 (12th) and Ketchikan 1:51.16 (14th).<\/p>\n
The Sitka boys have a 200 free relay time of 1:33.80 (6th state, 1st Dimond 1:30.63), Ketchikan 1:37.58 (11th), JDHS 1:37.70 (12th), TMHS 1:37.81 (13th) and Petersburg 1:41.13 (16th).<\/p>\n
The Sitka boy\u2019s have a 3:31.62 time in the 400 free relay (8th in state, 1st Soldotna 3:21.15), Ketchikan 3:32.15 (9th), JDHS 3:40.27 (14th) and Petersburg 3:44.16 (16th).<\/p>\n
Ketchikan\u2019s Kegan Rhein is the only SE diver to break into the states top 16 ranking at 10th (1st Wasilla\u2019s Brayden Schachle).<\/p>\n
The conference individual event champions for each region and the next 12 finals times statewide qualify for the state championships at Anchorage\u2019s Bartlett High School pool on November 6-7. For relays the conference champion and the next best four finals times statewide qualify.<\/p>\n
