{"id":18040,"date":"2017-05-16T16:55:05","date_gmt":"2017-05-16T23:55:05","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/spijue.wpengine.com\/news\/bicyclist-injured-cited-in-collision-with-truck\/"},"modified":"2017-05-16T16:55:05","modified_gmt":"2017-05-16T23:55:05","slug":"bicyclist-injured-cited-in-collision-with-truck","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.juneauempire.com\/news\/bicyclist-injured-cited-in-collision-with-truck\/","title":{"rendered":"Bicyclist injured, cited in collision with truck"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Police on Monday morning cited a bicyclist for riding against traffic after she allegedly caused a collision with a truck.<\/p>\n<p>The 34-year-old woman sustained only minor injuries, according to a press release from the Juneau Police Department.<\/p>\n<p>JPD officers responded to the vehicle versus bicycle collision at the intersection of Glacier Highway and Davis Avenue at 7:46 a.m. Monday, according to JPD&rsquo;s daily bulletin.<\/p>\n<p>The investigation reportedly revealed the bicyclist, identified as Georgette Torres, was riding inbound in the outbound bicycle lane when she collided with a truck driven by a 35-year-old man who was not identified. The truck had been turning right from Davis Avenue onto Glacier Highway.<\/p>\n<p>Torres was treated for minor injuries at the Bartlett Regional Hospital, the release stated.<\/p>\n<p>The Juneau Police Department would like to remind bicyclists to follow all traffic laws when riding on the roadway, and to yield to pedestrians when riding on the shared multi-use paths and sidewalks, Sgt. Chris Gifford said in the release.
