While earning his degrees, he also received national and state certification as a paramedic and certification as a Fire Fighter II. In June, Fagertrom was promoted to a staff position at Chena Goldstream Fire and Rescue in Fairbanks as an engineer and lead medic. Fagerstrom has been serving as a volunteer at this station for the past two years.<\/p>\n<p>Fagerstrom initially became interested in this career field due to the University of Alaska Southeast EET and EMT courses offered as a special after school program to the Juneau School District.
