The campaign honors individuals and institutions who help prepare people for college and career success. One of Juneau\u2019s longest-standing restaurants was selected because of its commitment to support education for its workers and local community.<\/p>\n<p>When Mitch Falk, the restaurant\u2019s current owner, bought the 43-year-old business in 2007, he expanded on its founder\u2019s commitment to supporting education through college scholarships. From a diverse staff of 55\u2014half of whom are Alaskan Native\u201430 employees have received scholarships in the past eight years. Beyond that, Falk also created a partnership with the Juneau School District to support youth education initiatives and created a company policy to reimburse employees\u2019 tuition for math and science courses at University of Alaska Southeast, provided they earn a \u201cB\u201d or higher.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Bullwinkle\u2019s Pizza is a semifinalist in the ACT College and Career Readiness Campaign.
