Black bears and brown bears frequently mingle as they catch salmon in Anan Creek. To control the number of tourists visiting the site, the Forest Service requires visitors to have a permit if they visit between July 5 and Aug. 25, the peak of the bear-viewing season.<\/p>\n<p>Those who visit the site outside that window do not need a permit.<\/p>\n<p>Permits are $10, plus a $10 reservation fee. Visit <a href=\"http:\/\/www.recreation.gov\" target=\"_blank\">www.recreation.gov<\/a> or call 1-877-444-6777 to order a permit.
