1956 \u2014 Billy Howton of the Green Bay Packers catches seven passes for 257 yards and two touchdowns in a 42-17 victory over the Los Angeles Rams.<\/p>\n

1973 \u2014 Fred Dryer of the Los Angeles Rams becomes the first NFL player to record two safeties in a 24-7 victory over the Green Bay Packers.<\/p>\n

1975 \u2014 Carlton Fisk breaks up a thrilling contest with a homer in the 12th inning to give the Boston Red Sox a 7-6 victory over the Cincinnati Reds and force a seventh game in the World Series.<\/p>\n

1980 \u2014 The Philadelphia Phillies win the World Series for the first time in their 98-year history, beating the Kansas City Royals 4-1 in the sixth game.<\/p>\n

1984 \u2014 Steve Cox of the Cleveland Browns kicks the second-longest field goal in NFL history, a 60-yarder against Cincinnati, but Jim Breetch\u2019s four field goals give the Bengals a 12-9 victory.<\/p>\n

1998 \u2014 The New York Yankees close historic season with 3-0 victory at San Diego, sweeping the Padres in four games to win their record 24th World Series.<\/p>\n

2001 \u2014 Washington rookie Rod Gardner has six catches for 208 yards, including an 85-yard touchdown, in the Redskins\u2019 17-14 overtime win over Carolina.<\/p>\n

2006 \u2014 Michigan State rallies from a 35-point, third-quarter deficit to beat Northwestern 41-38 in the biggest comeback in NCAA Division I-A history. Brett Swenson kicks the winning 28-yard field goal with 13 seconds left following an interception by Travis Key.<\/p>\n

2007 \u2014 Rob Bironas kicks an NFL-record eight field goals, the last a 29-yarder with no time left to give Tennessee a 38-36 win over Houston. Bironas adds two extra points to set the NFL record for most points by a kicker, with 26. The Texans, trailing 32-7, survive backup quarterback Sage Rosenfels\u2019 four touchdown passes in the fourth quarter. Rosenfels\u2019 fourth touchdown pass, a 53-yarder to Andre\u2019 Davis to put Houston up 36-35 with 57 seconds to play, ties an NFL record.<\/p>\n

2007 \u2014 New England\u2019s Tom Brady passes for 354 yards and a team-record six touchdowns in a 49-28 victory over Miami. The Patriots improve to 7-0 for the first time in franchise history and match an NFL record by winning each game by at least 17 points.<\/p>\n

2009 \u2014 Olympic champion Liu Zige knocks a stunning 1.6 seconds off the world record in the women\u2019s 200-meter butterfly at China\u2019s National Games. Liu is timed in 2:01.81, eclipsing the previous world mark of 2:03.41 set by Australia\u2019s Jessicah Schipper at the world championships in July.<\/p>\n

2012 \u2014 Tamika Catchings scores 25 points to help the Indiana Fever win their first WNBA title with an 87-78 victory over the Minnesota Lynx.<\/p>\n

2012 \u2014 Tampa Bay\u2019s Josh Freeman throws for 420 yards and three touchdowns in a 35-28 loss to New Orleans.
