Gage rushes for 212 and passes for 209 in a 34-27 triumph over New Mexico.<\/p>\n 1987 \u2014<\/strong> The St. Louis Cardinals score 28 points \u2014 three TD passes by Neil Lomax and a fumble recovery by Niko Noga \u2014 to overcome a 28-3 deficit and beat the Tampa Bay Buccaneers 31-28.<\/p>\n 1991 \u2014<\/strong> Paul Coffey breaks the NHL career mark for goals by a defenseman by scoring in the second period of the Pittsburgh Penguins\u2019 3-1 victory over the Winnipeg Jets. Coffey\u2019s 311th career goal breaks the mark set by Denis Potvin, who had 310 for the New York Islanders.<\/p>\n 1997 \u2014<\/strong> Phil Housley becomes the second U.S.-born player in NHL history to score 1,000 points. He overtakes Eddie Robinson, who retired in 1997 after winning 408 games at Grambling.<\/p>\n 2005 \u2014<\/strong> Pierre Turgeon becomes the 34th player in NHL history to reach 500 goals, scoring in the third period of Colorado\u2019s 5-2 win over San Jose.<\/p>\n 2008 \u2014<\/strong> Chris Paul has his sixth straight double-double with 21 points and 13 assists in New Orleans\u2019 100-89 victory over Miami. Paul sets an NBA record for consecutive games at the start of a season with at least 20 points and 10 assists, breaking the mark set by Oscar Robertson in 1968.<\/p>\n 2009 \u2014<\/strong> Indianapolis becomes the fourth team in league history with 17 consecutive regular-season wins with a 20-17 victory over Houston. New England did it twice \u2014 winning a record 21 straight from 2006-08 and 18 in a row from 2003-04. Chicago won 17 straight from 1933-34.<\/p>\n 2009 \u2014<\/strong> Italy clinches the Fed Cup title after Flavia Pennetta beats Melanie Oudin 7-5, 6-2. Pennetta\u2019s victory gives the experienced Italians an insurmountable 3-0 lead over a young U.S. team in the best-of-five series.<\/p>\n 2014 \u2014<\/strong> Northern Iowa beats three-time defending FCS champion North Dakota State 23-3.
