Learn to fly fish, hunt for upland birds<\/p>\n
The Alaska Department of Fish and Game is offering several summer workshops through Beyond BOW (Becoming an Outdoors-Woman.) <\/p>\n
The first is advanced fly tying and is Wednesday, July 27, 5-8 p.m. at the Douglas Public Library. \u201cTake your fly tying skills to the next level with this advanced clinic, focusing on flies for silver salmon,\u201d says a flier from ADF&G. Learn how to tie some of the most effective flies for Southeast Alaska fishing. It costs $25.<\/p>\n
The second class is upland bird hunting. \u201cWhether you\u2019re in search of grouse or ptarmigan, this class will set you off on the right alpine path toward hunting upland game birds. Leanr what to bring, what to look for, bird identification, signs and more,\u201d says the flier. The course is all day in the Mount Roberts alpine Saturday, Aug. 6. It costs $35. <\/p>\n
The third class is \u201cpsyched about silvers,\u201d and focuses on fly fishing instruction for silver salmon. \u201cThis full-day fly fishing adventure will take you to a local stream where you\u2019ll set your sights on chrome coho salmon,\u201d the flier says. It\u2019s all day Saturday, Aug. 27 and costs $55.
