When the bookstore’s a-rocking, Rainy Retreat Books wants you to come a-knocking Saturday night.<\/p>\n

Rainy Retreat Books is hosting Gamble and the High Costa Living for a “Big Band, Tiny Bookstore” event Saturday at 8 p.m. The event is free, though as the name of the event says, the bookstore is fairly small (and the band is large) and space will be limited.<\/p>\n

The bookstore, located at 113 Seward St. downtown, changed hands in mid-June<\/a>, as Alexei Painter and Tori Weaver now run it after Don and Toni Birdseye owned the store for the past 15 years.<\/p>\n

Saturday’s event also marks the start of a new endeavor for the store, as it will now sell used vinyl records. Store Manager Greg Ordner said there seems to be a market for vinyl in Juneau, and Painter’s musical interest has helped spur the new venture.<\/p>\n

“Alexei is in a couple different bands around town and there’s music in his blood,” Ordner explained, “and vinyl’s on its way back.”<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
