The Juneau-Douglas High School boys soccer team traveled to Seattle this week, where they lost the opener of their three game jaunt 0-3 to Issaquah High School on Wednesday night.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe reason we come on these trips is to play against high-level opponents, and they certainly were an excellent opponent,\u201d JDHS coach Gary Lehnhart said.<\/p>\n
Issaquah scored off a second-chance shot 10 minutes into the match. Keeper Hunter Pegues parried the first attempt and an unmarked Issaquah player capitalized with a second shot.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe had a couple really good chances after that and we didn\u2019t convert them. \u2026 Really we should have drawn even,\u201d Lehnhart said.<\/p>\n
JJ Mosher had a header blocked and Issaquah countered to score their second goal; before halftime Issaquah got their third goal off a cross and volley.<\/p>\n
JDHS played their opponents even in the second half, but couldn\u2019t convert any goals to draw the score closer.<\/p>\n
\u201cSecond half we made some adjustments, and the good news is we played them even,\u201d Lehnhart said. \u201cWe had really good performances from goalkeeper Hunter (Pegues). He did more than his part in the back. Offensively, I thought Corbin Mitchell had the best run in terms of controlling the game from the outside. In the second half, Salar Peirovi and Treyson Ramos came in defensively and locked down their forwards.\u201d<\/p>\n
