In the early morning of Saturday, Nov. 11, a Juneau man was found deceased in a room at the Alaskan Hotel.

Acquaintances of Clarence Stanly Milton III, 37, were sharing the room with him and noticed that he wasn’t snoring. When they checked on him, according to the Juneau Police Department report, Milton was cold to the touch. They called the police just before 5 a.m., and when officers and Capital City Fire/Rescue responders arrived they declared him deceased.

There were no signs of trauma, Deputy Chief David Campbell said, and his death does not appear to be suspicious. Campbell said alcohol “appears to be a possible factor,” based on empty alcohol containers in the room and statements from the others who were in the room. An autopsy has been requested to determine the cause of death.

Acquaintances of Milton’s reported to the police that Milton had a medical issue, but Campbell declined to comment on the specifics of the medical issue, due to state privacy laws.
