Breasts will be at the center of attention at one party on Halloween weekend.<\/p>\n

On Saturday, Oct. 28, the annual “Save the Ta-Tas” party is taking place at the Juneau Moose Lodge. The party, which runs from 6-8 p.m., aims to raise money for the mobile mammogram unit, which goes around the state to perform mammograms.<\/p>\n

The main event is for attendees to decorate their own bra. For $10, someone can decorate a bra to be worn during a runway show at the culmination of the party. Those who don’t feel confident in their creative skills can still make a donation and enter a pre-made bra in the runway show.<\/p>\n

There will be other games and food available, and attendees can win prizes throughout the night as well. The Moose Lodge is located at 8335 Old Dairy Road, near the Juneau International Airport.<\/p>\n

According to a 2014 report<\/a> from the Alaska Department of Health and Social Services, Alaska ranked 35th in the United States in terms of the percentage of women who have undergone breast cancer screening. Between 2000 and 2012, the percentage of women aged between 50 and 75 who had had a mammogram within the past two years dropped from 82 to 75 percent.<\/p>\n

Even though Women of the Moose Unit 439 is hosting the event, one does not need to be a member of the group to attend. The event is open to everybody.<\/p>\n
