{"id":21460,"date":"2016-04-01T02:02:37","date_gmt":"2016-04-01T09:02:37","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/spijue.wpengine.com\/news\/alaska-village-receives-450k-in-hud-grant-for-fire-repairs\/"},"modified":"2016-04-01T02:02:37","modified_gmt":"2016-04-01T09:02:37","slug":"alaska-village-receives-450k-in-hud-grant-for-fire-repairs","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.juneauempire.com\/news\/alaska-village-receives-450k-in-hud-grant-for-fire-repairs\/","title":{"rendered":"Alaska village receives $450K in HUD grant for fire repairs"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>ANCHORAGE \u2014 A tiny village in Alaska\u2019s interior is getting $450,000 in federal funding for repairs to a fire-damaged building housing the water treatment system.<\/p>\n<p>The U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development says the \u201cimminent threat\u201d grant has been awarded to village Alatna.<\/p>\n<p>HUD officials say the estimated $1.3 million cost of repairing the water treatment plant, clinic and other parts of the facility will be funded by the grant and $850,000 from the Alaska Division of Homeland Security and Emergency Management.<\/p>\n<p>After the April 2015 fire, residents were forced to cross the frozen Koyukuk River to haul water from another village before a temporary water-filtration system was installed.<\/p>\n<p>Gov.
