Juneau-Douglas High School junior Bill Bosse completed a seven-goal weekend Saturday night in the Mid-Alaska Conference playoffs in Fairbanks.

After scoring five goals in the Crimson Bears’ 6-4 win over Lathrop on Friday night, Bosse scored twice against West Valley on Saturday in the championship game.

West Valley won the game, 3-2.

“It was a battle through the whole 45 minutes of the game,” JDHS head coach Luke Adams said. “We executed what we wanted to execute; we just didn’t get quite as many opportunities as we needed throughout the game. But every one of our players really did an outstanding job.”

West Valley’s Kaiden Hafele gave the Wolfpack a 2-1 first-period lead with a pair of goals. Jaren Beckley and Bosse each added goals in the middle frame but the Crimson Bears couldn’t find the equalizer in the third period.

JDHS junior Cameron Smith said the team did everything it could to put another goal on the scoreboard.

“That last period, we played our hearts out. Really worked hard for it,” Smith said.

JDHS qualified for the state championships by virtue of making it to the championship game.

The ASAA First National Cup Division I Hockey State Championships are Feb. 8-10 in Wasilla.
