{"id":22898,"date":"2016-09-11T00:25:05","date_gmt":"2016-09-11T07:25:05","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/spijue.wpengine.com\/news\/police-arrest-alleged-attempted-home-intruder\/"},"modified":"2016-09-11T00:25:05","modified_gmt":"2016-09-11T07:25:05","slug":"police-arrest-alleged-attempted-home-intruder","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.juneauempire.com\/news\/police-arrest-alleged-attempted-home-intruder\/","title":{"rendered":"Police arrest alleged attempted home intruder"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Two minutes after police received a report that a man was trying to break into a Mendenhall Valley home Saturday morning, officers found the alleged intruder as he tried to escape in a wooded area, police said.<\/p>\n<p>The Juneau Police Department arrested Demetrius Campos, 21, around 3 a.m. Saturday morning in the 2500 block of Teslin Street, according to a JPD press release.<\/p>\n<p>Police said Campos attempted to break into a residential bedroom, but was stopped by a resident who struck Campos\u2019 head with the butt of a rifle. Campos issued threats to the residents inside, then attempted to enter the home again but was unsuccessful, the JPD press release states.<\/p>\n<p>An officer eventually tackled Campos in the wooded area near where the attempted burglary took place after Campos led police on a brief foot chase, police said.<\/p>\n<p>Capital City Fire\/Rescue medics evaluated Campos before he was eventually taken to Lemon Creek Correctional Center for burglary, assault and criminal mischief charges, police said.<\/p>\n<p>Alcohol is believed to have been a factor in this incident.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Two minutes after police received a report that a man was trying to break into a Mendenhall Valley home Saturday morning, officers found the alleged intruder as he tried to escape in a wooded area, police said.
