The Alaska Department of Fish and Game will soon offer its first \u201cBeyond BOW\u201d class in Southeast Alaska \u2014 a basic hunter education course. BOW, a popular springtime event at Echo Ranch in Juneau, stands for \u201cBecoming an Outdoors-Woman.\u201d Versions of it are offered across the country.<\/p>\n
The course will provide training in firearms safety and wildlife conservation, as well as respect for natural resources, landowners and other hunters. First, students will complete an independent study course; second, they will have a hands-on day at the range.<\/p>\n
The field day is 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, April 2. (BOW is this year scheduled for May 13-15.)<\/p>\n
