{"id":23846,"date":"2016-01-15T09:04:43","date_gmt":"2016-01-15T17:04:43","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/spijue.wpengine.com\/news\/charges-filed-in-shooting-death-on-remote-shuyak-island\/"},"modified":"2016-01-15T09:04:43","modified_gmt":"2016-01-15T17:04:43","slug":"charges-filed-in-shooting-death-on-remote-shuyak-island","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.juneauempire.com\/news\/charges-filed-in-shooting-death-on-remote-shuyak-island\/","title":{"rendered":"Charges filed in shooting death on remote Shuyak Island"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>KODIAK \u2014<\/strong> A 44-year-old Anchorage man has been charged with first-degree murder and evidence tampering in the November shooting death of a man on a remote island near Kodiak.<\/p>\n<p>Alaska State Troopers say Steven Ridenour is charged in the death of 56-year-old Steven McCaulley of Port William on Shuyak Island.<\/p>\n<p>Shuyak Island is north of Afognak Island.<\/p>\n<p>Troopers took a call Nov. 17 requesting a check on people at Port Williams Wilderness Lodge.<\/p>\n<p>Troopers found McCaulley dead outside a bunkhouse and determined that a suspect had traveled to Anchorage.<\/p>\n<p>Ridenour a day after the discovery of McCaulley\u2019s body was arrested on unrelated misdemeanor warrants and jailed in Anchorage.<\/p>\n<p>Online court documents did not list an attorney for Ridenour.
