{"id":23954,"date":"2016-02-14T09:02:44","date_gmt":"2016-02-14T17:02:44","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/spijue.wpengine.com\/news\/sitka-settles-with-man-hit-by-stun-gun-in-jail\/"},"modified":"2016-02-14T09:02:44","modified_gmt":"2016-02-14T17:02:44","slug":"sitka-settles-with-man-hit-by-stun-gun-in-jail","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.juneauempire.com\/news\/sitka-settles-with-man-hit-by-stun-gun-in-jail\/","title":{"rendered":"Sitka settles with man hit by stun gun in jail"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>SITKA \u2014<\/strong> The city of Sitka has agreed to pay $350,000 to resolve a complaint threatening a lawsuit over the 2014 arrest of a man who was hit by a stun gun in the city jail.<\/p>\n<p>The Daily Sitka Sentinel reports that the city\u2019s insurance company will pay Franklin Hoogendorn in connection to the September 2014 incident.<\/p>\n<p>Hoogendorn\u2019s attorneys had not filed a lawsuit, but had issued a draft complaint threatening litigation.<\/p>\n<p>The claim for damages was in connection to Hoogendorn\u2019s arrest and the subsequent posting of a video online that shows Sitka police officers wrestling with the then 18-year-old as they attempted to have him change into jail clothing.
