{"id":24032,"date":"2017-11-21T22:38:00","date_gmt":"2017-11-22T06:38:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/spijue.wpengine.com\/news\/ski-scholarship-winners-announced\/"},"modified":"2017-11-21T22:38:00","modified_gmt":"2017-11-22T06:38:00","slug":"ski-scholarship-winners-announced","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.juneauempire.com\/sports\/ski-scholarship-winners-announced\/","title":{"rendered":"Ski scholarship winners announced"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Eaglecrest Ski Area announced on Monday the four winners of this year&rsquo;s Hilary Lindh Scholarship.<\/p>\n<p>Michael Cesar, John Barnhill, Linnea Bush and Trevor Stephens will all receive a free season pass to the Juneau ski hill as the 2017 scholarship awardees.<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;These students are wonderful examples of the hard work and dedicated spirit exemplified by the Lindh Scholarship,&rdquo; the press release stated.<\/p>\n<p>The scholarship program was established in 1992, the same year of Lindh&rsquo;s 1992 Olympic Silver Medal.<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;Hilary started skiing in Juneau at an early age and won the U.S. and World Junior Championships in Downhill at age 16. She also attended a Utah ski academy in 1984, competed on the World Cup Circuit for twelve years winning three World Cup Downhills, and competed in three Olympics,&rdquo; the press release added.<\/p>\n<p>Lindh is a 2006 inductee of the U. S. Ski Hall of Fame and 2009 inductee of the Alaska Sports Hall of Fame.<\/p>\n<p>Those who applied and were not chosen will receive a lift ticket, rental and lesson package.<\/p>\n<p>Eaglecrest&rsquo;s opening day is slotted for Saturday, Dec. 2.
