The<\/span> city<\/span> has<\/span> found<\/span> a<\/span> new<\/span> Community<\/span> Development<\/span> Department<\/span> Director.<\/span><\/p>\n

According<\/span> to<\/span> a<\/span> release,<\/span> Jill<\/span> Maclean<\/span> will<\/span> be<\/span> taking<\/span> over<\/span> the<\/span> position<\/span> when<\/span> current<\/span> director<\/span> Rob<\/span> Steedle<\/span> retires<\/span> May<\/span> 31.<\/span><\/p>\n

Maclean<\/span> is<\/span> currently<\/span> employed<\/span> as<\/span> a<\/span> Senior<\/span> Planner<\/span> at<\/span> CDD,<\/span> a<\/span> position<\/span> she<\/span> has<\/span> held<\/span> since<\/span> September<\/span> of<\/span> 2015.<\/span> City<\/span> and<\/span> Borough<\/span> of<\/span> Juneau<\/span> City<\/span> Manager<\/span> Rorie<\/span> Watt<\/span> said<\/span> he<\/span> has<\/span> high<\/span> expectations<\/span> for<\/span> Maclean<\/span> in<\/span> her<\/span> new<\/span> position.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cMs.<\/span> Maclean<\/span> is<\/span> a<\/span> talented<\/span> planner<\/span> and<\/span> is<\/span> well<\/span> respected<\/span> by<\/span> the<\/span> community,\u201d<\/span> Watt<\/span> said<\/span> in<\/span> the<\/span> release.<\/span> \u201cI<\/span> am<\/span> confident<\/span> that<\/span> she,<\/span> and<\/span> her<\/span> team,<\/span> can<\/span> accomplish<\/span> great<\/span> things<\/span> for<\/span> the<\/span> community.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

Maclean<\/span> has<\/span> more than 16<\/span> years<\/span> of<\/span> experience<\/span> in<\/span> the<\/span> planning<\/span> and<\/span> economic<\/span> development<\/span> profession.<\/span> Prior<\/span> to<\/span> her<\/span> assignment<\/span> at<\/span> CBJ,<\/span> Maclean<\/span> was <\/span>the<\/span> City<\/span> Planner<\/span> for<\/span> the<\/span> City<\/span> of<\/span> New<\/span> Bedford,<\/span> Massachusetts.<\/span> She<\/span> also<\/span> worked<\/span> in<\/span> the<\/span> planning department for<\/span> the<\/span> Town<\/span> of<\/span> Marshfield,<\/span> Massachusetts.<\/span> Maclean<\/span> has<\/span> a<\/span> Bachelor<\/span> of<\/span> Science<\/span> in<\/span> Geography<\/span> from<\/span> Bridgewater<\/span> State<\/span> University,<\/span> a<\/span> Master<\/span> of<\/span> Public<\/span> Policy,<\/span> from<\/span> the<\/span> University<\/span> of<\/span> Massachusetts<\/span> Dartmouth <\/span>and<\/span> is<\/span> a<\/span> certified<\/span> planner<\/span> through<\/span> the<\/span> American<\/span> Planners<\/span> Association.<\/span><\/p>\n

CDD<\/span> is<\/span> responsible<\/span> for<\/span> providing<\/span> the<\/span> community<\/span> with<\/span> short<\/span> and<\/span> long-<\/span>range<\/span> planning,<\/span> permitting,<\/span> building<\/span> inspections<\/span> and<\/span> code<\/span> enforcement<\/span> activities.<\/span> In<\/span> addition,<\/span> CDD<\/span> also<\/span> provides<\/span> staff<\/span> support<\/span> to<\/span> the<\/span> Planning<\/span> Commission.<\/span> Maclean<\/span> said<\/span> she<\/span> is<\/span> excited<\/span> to<\/span> start<\/span> her<\/span> new<\/span> job.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m<\/span> really<\/span> looking<\/span> forward<\/span> to<\/span> the<\/span> opportunity<\/span> to<\/span> lead<\/span> the<\/span> department,\u201d <\/span>Maclean<\/span> said.<\/span> \u201cJuneau<\/span> is<\/span> such<\/span> a<\/span> fantastic<\/span> community<\/span> and<\/span> I\u2019m<\/span> looking<\/span> forward<\/span> to<\/span> helping<\/span> the<\/span> community<\/span> grow.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n
